Sometimes based on literary rolemodels, like Count Strahd having certain paralells to Count Dracula, Dr. Mordenheim to Viktor Frankenstein, while others are from other campaigns from the (A)D&D worlds and some are new alltogether.
And who could forget the unfortunate heroes, always terribly outnumbered and destined to fail ...
